FCC Paragon Protects Landlords and Letting Agents Against Potential Penalties
Facing demands of the current housing market and placing an ever growing population into housing is not an easy task. FCC Paragon and their sister company Paragon Advance, are leading the way in ensuring that tenants are suitably placed into properties, by providing the right levels of security and cover for Landlords and Agents.
FCC Paragon has established themselves as one of the market leaders of the lettings industry with their Tenant Referencing service, offering a variety of different referencing options from a 1 hour to a 48 hour service and by providing a choice for Agents and Landlords to purchase a reference with instant results – each service administering the clients with a comprehensive report relative to the option purchased.*
FCC Paragon has been providing Tenant Referencing to Letting Agents and Landlords, including referencing foreign nationals, at no extra cost for over 19 years. Having always done this, Paragon poses a breadth and wealth of knowledge dealing with referencing of this type. To put this to the test, four years ago Paragon approached the UK Government and offered their services for a trial after identifying growing concerns surrounding the verification of foreign nationals.
Home to an in-house development team, FCC Paragon are always developing their systems and processes to coincide with the ever changing lettings sector and to ensure that the services they provide their clients go above and beyond expectation.
With news of a new Immigration Bill on the horizon, Paragon is once again taking extra measures to ensure that their Landlords and Agents do not incur financial penalties, as a result of letting to someone who does not have the right to work in the UK. Many checks carried out by other providers are not as in-depth and detailed as Paragons, in contrast to some competitors, Paragon do more than just check to see if the algorithm on a passport is correct, as this does not guarantee it is not fraudulent.
Always silently ahead of the game, standing Paragon in good stead for the approaching changes, they set-up a pilot project after lobbying the government for over 7 years, ahead of ‘Right to Rent’. This project helped Paragon by developing their internal processes and assisted them in knowing what to look out for. After a recent visit to the Paragon HQ from Home Secretary Teresa May and local MP, Penny Mordaunt, Paragon were able to discuss the forthcoming immigration status checks and their strategy to carry them out. Operations Director, Janie Gaston said, “We are grateful that we have finally had the opportunity to air our thoughts directly with the Home Secretary, who was encouraged by the depth of research that we carry out, the results of our initial trial and the ideas that we presented that would support the Government in creating a fairer system”.
With their clients interests at the core of their business, on top of the detailed and precise service Paragon currently provide, they now offer a reminder service to their Landlords and Managing Agents to notify them of any visa’s which are due to expire in the next 30 days.
Landlord John JP Hughes said, “Thank goodness for Paragon Advance and the brilliant people therein. I am so very grateful to you. You have saved me potential problems with the Home Office had I decided to accept a tenant with no valid Biometric Residence Permit. Paragon Advance is simply brilliant for private landlord clients!”
